Business is booming at ITALY’S corner Café and Catering at 269 Lottridge Street.


Giovanni De Lucia - a north end boy who grew up in the neighbourhood of John and Murray streets, opened his café Italy for business Sept 18 2012, bringing to the north end a charming café that offers tasty home cooked pastas and a variety of veal, chicken, turkey sandwiches.

Homemade brochette is a huge hit with his customers.

Giovanni makes their own biscotti on site that is super with a double espresso. He prides himself on the fact that every thing he offers is Fresh! Fresh! Fresh!

He shops daily, and no meats are frozen and definitely no micro waves are allowed in his café.

Local bakeries provide him with breads and pastries, “I am giving my customers what my grandmother gave me as a kid... Food with a heart... Giovanni says, I love to cook!

His charming patio has been open thru summer, and soon he plans on having a chefs table on Saturday evenings.

Five couples will be invited free of charge to enjoy his fabulous fare as a promotion for his catering business that he hopes to expand.

He currently also caters functions, large and small for the big steel companies and many businesses in his neighbourhood.

Giovanni has a vision for Barton Street area and the north end - he wants to see it come alive again with restaurants offering a multitude of tastes and colour.

He is a huge champion of his hometown, Hamilton - a true spark for the revitalization of North End.
