Description
According to findings of the 'Creative Class' Guru, Richard Florida, in his latest book: "The Rise of the Creative Class Revisited: 10th Anniversary Edition" -- the city of Hamilton is ranked 16th out of the top 20 most creative cities in Canada.
The rankings for the Canadian Creativity Index, has been developed by the Martin Prosperity Institute research team, which are based on Florida's "3Ts of economic development."*:
- Ottawa, 1st
- Victoria and Vancouver, 2nd
- Montreal, 4th
- Quebec City, 5th
- Calgary, 6th
- Toronto ties with Halifax, 7th
- London, 8th
- Kitchener, 9th
- Edmonton, 10th
- Regina and Kingston, 12th
- Sherbrooke and Guelph, 14th
- HAMILTON, 16th
- St. John's, 17th
- Saskatoon, 18th
- Winnipeg, 19th
- Peterborough, 20th

* Florida's "3Ts of economic development.":
"The first T is -technology-, or the ability to create new ideas and inventions and high tech companies, which measure as combination of innovation and high-tech companies."
"The second T is -talent-, or the skilled, ambitious and talented people who generate new ideas and create new companies, measured by the share of the workforce in the Creative Class."
"The third T is -tolerance-, the non-judgmental environment that attracts open-minded and new-thinking kinds of people, measured as the share of foreign-born people and gays and lesbians in a community, plus its level of integration."
